Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran introduce a segment featuring the Chickasaw Arts Academy in Ada. Now in its 14th year, the program guides students ages 8 and older in a wide range of artistic pursuits, from traditional classes in pottery, beadwork and singing to newer offerings like graphic design and culinary arts. Another popular program is the Chickasaw Nation Aviation and Space Academy (CNASA), which provides kids with hands-on applications for math and science and helps to prepare them for careers in technical fields. Held at the Judicial Building in Ada, the Yaakni' Inaalhpisaat Chokma "The Nation's Laws Are Good" Camp allows participants to take part in a mock trial and learn about the workings of the tribal court system. This program accepts children ages 10 and over and is currently in its 10th year. The Champions Football Clinic and Champions Cheerleading Clinic both teach sports fundamentals with a strong focus on character-building. Youth Basketball Camp, which is held at Oklahoma City University and features sessions for boys and girls, is another popular sports program.
