Chickasaw Nation News

Brad Clonch and Quin Tran open this episode of CNTV News with the announcement of Chickasaw citizen T.W. Shannon's candidacy for the U.S. Senate. T.W. Shannon has served as an Oklahoma state representative since 2006 and, last year, became the youngest person to serve as the Speaker of the House. For more information, visit twshannon.com. Brad and Quin also remind us that February is American Heart Month and introduce us to a new program for Chickasaw elders. Carla Dyer, LPN, travels to Chickasaw Nation Senior Sites to talk about heart health, with her central message being "know your risk factors." The focus on health continues at the Okchamali Café at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center. The café solely serves healthy food options like fish, whole grains and fresh veggies and also educates its patrons on portion size. This CNTV News episode ends with a focus on the youth of the Nation – an education fair will take place on February 27 at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center in Ada, and several in-state, out-of-state and career-tech schools will be in attendance. Finally, meet Sadie Prince, the first baby of the New Year born at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.
