Chickasaw Nation News

In this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran take us to Allen, Oklahoma to meet Brian McCurdy. As a Geographic Information Systems Specialist for the Chickasaw Nation, Brian works to capture, manage, analyze and display geographic information in the form of maps, globes, reports, charts, databases and websites. Currently, Brian is working toward discovering all 64 of the Chic-Choc markers that date back to the 1870s – these stones were used by 19th century surveyors as mile markers for the boundary between the Chickasaw and Choctaw nations. Next, we travel to the Chickasaw Cultural Center in Sulphur for what's expected to be a busy Labor Day weekend. Since it opened in 2010, the Cultural Center has welcomed more than 250,000 visitors from all over the world. And, while you're in town, stop by the Bedré Café in downtown Sulphur. Located next to The Artesian Hotel, this 1950s-style diner serves made-to-order sandwiches, baked goods, cakes, pies, ice cream and, of course, chocolate.
