On this episode of CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran highlight the powerful spirit of the Oklahoma people and Chickasaw tribe through efforts to aid victims of the horrendous May tornados. The Chickasaw Nation is available to help in a multitude of ways to bring relief to those affected by the storms. In other news, a happy event taking place this month in May was the 16th annual Chickasaw Reunion in Kullihoma, Oklahoma. Chickasaws from all across the country gathered to celebrate Chickasaw heritage through a variety of festivities. Another distinctive event is the gathering of Chickasaw elders at WinStar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The Chickasaw Elders Council is a two day event full of guest speakers who provide information on everything from relevant national political issues to important health facts and lifestyle choices. Also, the Chickasaw Nation hosted a cultural education day at the state Capitol. Booths were set up to share and teach about Chickasaw culture and history. Senator Frank Simpson praises the positive influence the tribe has had on Oklahoma economy, culture, and citizens.
