Chickasaw Nation News

This time on CNTV News, Brad Clonch and Quin Tran begin the episode with a look at the virtual Chickasaw Nation COVID-19 Memorial and honor those who have passed away during the pandemic. The memorial service was held to remember the Chickasaw citizens and employees who lost their lives to COVID-19 over the past year. The service included prayer, music and words of comfort from Governor Bill Anoatubby. The ceremony can be viewed at www.facebook.com/thechickasawnation. The Chickasaw Nation also has an online memorial wall to honor loved ones. Information, names and photos can be submitted at www.chickasaw.net/covidmemorial. In recent episodes, Chickasaw Nation health care professionals have shared the heartache of losing patients over the past year to COVID-19. Chickasaw Nation Medical Center chaplain Randy Wade shares his perspective watching health care heroes treat and care for COVID-19 patients, as well as the power of prayer.

All Oklahomans age 16 and older are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and the Chickasaw Nation is offering the vaccine to all area residents at no cost. There are no tribal citizenship, employee or state residency requirements. Drive-through vaccinations are located at the Ada Emergency Operations Facility and Chickasaw Nation Health Clinics in Purcell, Ardmore and Tishomingo. For more information or to schedule an appointment, visit www.covidvaccine.chickasaw.net. People are traveling from near and far to receive their shot, such as Chickasaw citizen George Paul, who drove over 1,000 miles from Phoenix through snow and ice. He shares the story of his perilous journey to get his vaccination.

To close the episode, Brad and Quin share more from the virtual memorial service, including names and photos of those who lost their lives to COVID-19.
