Brad Clonch and Quin Tran begin the episode by speaking with Dr. Charles Grim, Secretary of Health for the Chickasaw Nation, about the current status of COVID-19 in the Chickasaw Nation, the vaccine and his outlook for the coming weeks and months in 2021. He says the cases and positivity rates continue to rise and there is still widespread community spread across Oklahoma. He continues to urge people to wash their hands, wear a mask and watch their distance. Next, Travis Freeze, Director of Pharmacy Services, explains the science behind the COVID-19 vaccine and what happens within your body after your receive the first and second doses.

The new year is the perfect time to set resolutions. One of most common resolutions is to quit smoking. Chickasaw Nation tobacco prevention specialist Melinda Stone tells us why now is the time to kick that habit and how to become smoke-free. She also explains why vaping is so addictive and harmful, especially to young people. The Chickasaw Nation provides programs to help citizens quit smoking. The No Hunger Holiday event was held in Kingston in December to distribute food, toys and books to 800 area families.
