The Chickasaw Cultural Center: Traditional Village

Michael Cornelius, Cultural Activities Manager, Chickasaw Cultural Center

Michael Cornelius, Chickasaw Cultural Center Cultural Activities Manager, explains that the Chikasha Inchokka ("Chickasaw house") Traditional Village is made from native woods and river cane. It is a unique recreation of a customary Chickasaw village and includes many of the structures that were once central to daily life - the Council house, two summer houses, a corn crib, the ceremonial mound - all surrounded by a traditional stockade fence.
