Naming the OKA' AABINIILI' Water Pavilion

Experience Chickasaw History and Culture

A large HAYIP, or pond, rests on the grounds of the Chickasaw Cultural Center, into which a large walkway and shelter structure have been built. Visitors are able to walk out directly onto the pond – the name of this structure, OKA’ AABINILI’, is descriptive of its purpose – OKA’, meaning “water,” and AABINILI’, meaning “a place to sit down.”
