Florida Museum of Natural History: Dugout Canoes

Experience Chickasaw History and Culture

In ancient America, rivers were highways for people who traded goods aboard dugout canoes. This exhibit of 101 dugout canoes is on display at the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville, Florida and will go on tour in late fall 2013. While this find took place in Florida, the exhibit tells the story of dugout canoes and tribal people throughout the Americas.
